Little did I know that this move would shape my personality. I watched it carefully, not thinking that these few moments would be our last, but that they would be the last that we were in some way equal. He was a year-old Australian Shepherd and probably one of the best dogs we ever had. And we've had plenty. It seems trite to say that losing a pet is like losing a member of the family. The fact is, though, it's actually a gross understatement.
Losing A Best Friend
When I was thirteen years old I lost my best friend, Jessica. Almost every detail is as fresh as it was the day it happened. It was a Monday, I was in middle school. I got to school went to my locker like normal and then went to my homeroom where I sat and talked to my friend. I remember asking if she had seen Jessica because I was waiting for her to get there.
I never really fully cried, but I did loose a lot of sleep after my grandparents death. My mother was worried for a while because I would not sleep and my health was beginning to diminish. She ended up taking me to the doctor and they declared that I was suffering from insomnia. There was no explanation, but I knew that I was still grieving my grandparents, it was the only way that I could; since no one would know that I would cry in the middle of the night.
