George Washington - Words | Help Me
George, the eldest of Augustine and Mary Washington's six children, spent much of his childhood at Ferry Farm, a plantation near Fredericksburg, Virginia. After Washington's father died when he was 11, it's likely he helped him mother manage the plantation. It's believed he finished his formal schooling at around age His surveying expeditions into the Virginia wilderness earned him enough money to begin acquiring land of his own. Washington became a devoted stepfather to the children; he and Martha never had any offspring of their own.
George Washington And The American Revolution
During his presidency, Washington helped set the precedent for every president following him in numerous ways. He established the cabinet in the executive branch by appointing the Secretary of State and Secretary of Treasury, as these bodies were not outlined in the Constitution. He also supported innovative fiscal concepts, such as the Bank of America and national debt. All of the men we know as Founding Fathers had an enormous impact on the freedom and future of America.
However, George Washington was not settling with anything less than trying their best. He kept that little flicker of hope that was still left, alive. The Continental Congress did not see much hope in the war either and turned the responsibility of the war to General George Washington. Although Washington did not see this as much of an honor. His powerful leadership, determination, and endless patriotism was essential for winning the Revolutionary War, the creation of the United States Constitution, and the establishment of a new government.
