His books are filled with characters both familiar and strange and his settings are always filled with new wonders. But how did he execute his stories in a way that made them accessible and engaging for people of so many different ages and abilities?
The Lorax is a short cartoon by Dr. Seuss, although this cartoon is targeted at children it still relates to economical and environmental impacts we learnt from our class. The story illustrates many important economical concepts such as: needs and wants, supply and demand, profit gain and loss, limited resources, and opportunity cost. This cartoon is probably what inspired David Suzuki to write his essay. There are two main characters in the story, the Once-ler and the Lorax.
He truly believed that he was fighting for the right thing. However, he lacked the empathy to foresee the mob, and this lack of empathy was ultimately the source of his downfall. He was far too dismissive of others and their capacity for action.
